I picked up this wine at Trader Joe’s thinking it was going to be a less expensive alternative to The Prisoner. The grocer said it’s very popular and the cork carries a unique feature because there are 19 different corks describing 19 different crimes. I couldn’t wait to try it!
The verdict. This wine took a little while to open up. It was wound so tightly that it tasted almost sweet even with an aerator so it’s better to give it 10 minutes to breathe and that’s when the flavors started to make more sense. There are strong notes of cherry and cedar spice with a light vanilla finish. Would I give this wine another go? Maybe. For $11.99 I was hoping for something less sweet and more balanced. There’s a Cabernet version that I might give a go instead.
Have any of you tried this one? What’d you think?

I was wondering what you thought when I saw the heading of this one. I tried this when a store was giving out samples. I thought it tasted like grape juice. Not a fan.

I thought my taste buds were off from our game night on Friday because I tried this the next night. Good to know that my hunch was correct.
