Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are all able to relax, enjoy some good food and above all, drink some fabulous wine this long weekend! Stay tuned, because in a week or two, HIWTHI will be posting a holiday wine guide listing great wines for entertaining, giving and receiving. If you have any recommendations for tried-and-true favorites, please send me a message and I’ll add it to my ever-growing list.
A good friend recently brought this beautiful Malbec over to try the other night. The picture above is pretty dark so you can’t get a true sense of the color. It’s a rich purple when poured. From the moment my lips touched the glass, my olfactory senses were inundated with the scents of forest, earthy mushrooms and pungent cheese. This wine is unlike any other Malbec that I’ve tasted. There was the usual spice on the finish, but if I had tasted it blind, I would thought it was more of a Cab/Grenache blend. It was dense, but not heavy and very easy to drink. The price point was perfect at $12.99 a bottle!
Since the taste on this wine takes center stage, serve it with a mild cheese such as a creamy Brie or a nutty Gouda.
