I’ve seen wine sold like a 4 pack of beer a lot recently in stores. From Barefoot to Flip Flop, Crisp White to Sangria and people are drinking it too. Why not? It’s lighter, more portable and just plain fun which is what summer is all about.
If you’re looking to up your game on canned wines, (there’s an oxymoron for ya) I read about a few that sounded worth trying in the latest issue of Food & Wine magazine.
NV Presto Sparkling Rose – There’s something so refreshing about drinking bubbly beverages during the hottest months of the year. This one was described as strawberries with a slight touch of mint and comes from Whole Foods. Mmm! $13 for 4 cans.
NV Frico By Scarpetta – Another sparkling wine, but this one’s a white from northern Italy. It’s a blend of Chardonnay, Glera and Trebbiano. Tasting notes mention fresh cut flowers and crisp apples with bubbles that dance on the tongue. $12 for 4 cans.
2016 Union Wine Company Underwood Rose – This wine is made in Oregon and the tasting notes mention strawberries, watermelon and peach. Those are my favorite summer fruits so I’m definitely giving this one a go. $7 a can.
