This organically blended wine comes from the Gerard Bertrand Winery in France. It is a blend of 30% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cabernet, 10% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 10% Marselan.
This wine is a dark ruby color in the glass. There’s intriguing notes of cranberry, violet, star anise and kirsch that spreads across the palate like a soft blanket with a nice bite on the finish. As it opens up, the taste mellows out a bit and the spice dissipates. Pairs nicely with cheese such as Pecorino and triple cream Brie. A perfect wine to try if you grow bored drinking the same “safe” favorites.
You can buy this for about $22 on places such as wine.com or your local wine store.
