The temperature outside is hovering around zero with the wind chill, but inside the St Charles New Level Hot Yoga studio it is one hundred five and extremely humid. The room is quiet aside from the posture dictations given by the instructor and the steady hum of the humidifier near the door…oh, and your own pounding heart.
Let’s start from the beginning.
Here is set of simple rules to follow when you are in the hot room.
Here is where the instructor stands. Locking your knee is one of the keys to maintaining balance and proper form.
This is what you see when you are facing the mirror. The wall behind you is all windows. It was peaceful to watch the snow fly while we went through the practice this morning. Dare I even say I felt an inner gloating, “I’m in here. It feels like the tropics!”
This is what you see while you lie on your back during rest mode also referred to as savasana. Sorry, my camera lens kept fogging up in there.
Coconut water and La Croix sparkling water never looked so tempting as it does when you get out of class; always available for purchase as well as complimentary freezee pops provided by all of us students.
You almost feel okay about heading back out into the arctic when you are done.
Here are current prices which are always subject to change. The 30 day intro is what got me hooked. I mean, come on, $30 for 30 days and unlimited yoga! What do you really have to lose?
The class is 90 minutes long with 26 postures. During my first class I wondered when it would finally end, but now I love having an hour and a half all to myself. You need that much time to decompress and just focus on yourself. At first, you might notice the people around you and feel self-conscious and you will also notice an odor from all of the people working so hard in there, but I have to admit that now I hardly notice any of that stuff. If you give this class a chance and give yourself the present of health for this new year, I promise that the effects will leave you feeling sublime, awake, alive and energized. 🙂

Namaste.
